Mobile Detailing vs A Detailing Studio
Mobile is easier. A studio gives more control. Where each one genuinely wins, and why the water rules change the answer in Auckland.

The usual trade off is simple. Mobile detailing saves you the time and the drive. A studio gives the detailer control over light, water, temperature and power. In most cities you pick one and accept what you give up.
In Auckland there is a third factor that changes the maths, and most people comparing quotes do not know about it.
The Water Problem Nobody Mentions
New Zealand restricts washing vehicles where the runoff reaches a stormwater drain. Detergent, brake dust and road grime running off a driveway goes into the same system that discharges to the harbour.
That is why most mobile detailers in Auckland quote a waterless or rinseless wipe down for work at your home. It is not laziness, it is the only thing they can legally do there. On a lightly dusty car it is fine. On a car with real dirt on it, wiping without flushing the grit off first is how swirls get put into the paint.
Titan runs a no drainage system that captures and contains every drop of wash water on site. That is the reason we can do a full contact wash on your driveway when other mobile operators cannot, and it is currently the only one operating in Auckland.
Where A Studio Still Wins
Controlled conditions genuinely matter for some work:
- Paint correction, because consistent lighting is how you see what you are removing
- Coating application, where dust, temperature and humidity all affect the cure
- Multi day work that needs the car undercover between stages
- Anything where the car needs to sit protected after the work is done
For that reason Titan keeps a studio option in central or south Auckland. Higher end correction and coating work goes there. Everything else comes to you.
Where Mobile Wins
The obvious one is your time. A detail at your house or your workplace carpark costs you nothing but the booking, and there is no round trip through Auckland traffic that puts road film back on the car on the way home.
The less obvious one is timing. If you are photographing a car for a listing, or handing it to a buyer, having it detailed at your address the day before is worth more than having it detailed better three days earlier and then driven across the city.
How To Choose
| Choose Mobile When | Choose The Studio When |
|---|---|
| You want a complete detail, inside and out | The paint needs real correction work |
| The car is a daily driver in normal condition | A coating is going on and needs to cure properly |
| You are preparing for a sale or a photoshoot | The work runs across more than one day |
| Time matters more than anything else | The finish is the entire point of the job |
Not sure which one your car needs? Tell us what you drive and what is bothering you about it. Ab will tell you honestly whether it is a driveway job or one worth bringing to the studio.
